About Us

Introduction

Shawn and Ed have similar interests in video games, movies, comic books and television. They have decided to record what they discuss and provide it to anyone who wants to listen to their rants and jokes on what goes on in their geek world.

 How it started.

Shawn and Ed met in the late 1990’s working for the same label company as printer repair technicians. They both realized they had a lot in common but parted ways when Ed was laid off from the company. They would bump into each other from time to time at comic book conventions, geek movie premieres, and DVD and video games stores. In was not until 2011 when they started hanging out on a regular basis and saw a event with writer, filmmaker and podcaster Kevin Smith. During the show Kevin mentioned that if you have an idea run with it and make it happen. That idea really rang in Shawn’s head and he asked Ed to join him in recording a geek podcast. Several months later they finally figured out how to record a podcast. They also started a web site to promote their podcast.

 Shawn

Shawn was born and raised in Philly, Pa. His earliest memory of seeing a movie in theaters was Star Wars (back when it was still called Stars Wars not Star Wars: A New Hope) and he hasn’t been the same since. When he wasn’t going to see movies he was glued in front of the TV being influenced by the great ones, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Wile E Coyote. During his teen years he decided to branch out with shows like Tiny Toons, Batman the animated series and Batman Beyond, all while flipping thru the latest issue of Spiderman. During the formable teen years people like George Carlin, Sam Kinison, Andrew Dice Clay and a daily dose of Howard Stern on the way to school would help him look at the world differently then the ‘normal’ folk and along with the help of people like Opie & Anthony, Jim Norton, Patrice O’Neil and the works of Kevin Smith (just to name a few), he’s the man you hear before you! Sure he’ll admit that sometimes his rude and/or obnoxious ways can come off as well… rude and/or obnoxious but after getting to know him you’ll find that it’s all part of his charm.  Ed

Ed is an original geek before geeks were cool. At a young age he remembers watching shows like G.I. Joe, Spiderman, Speed Racer, and Star Blazers. He remembers playing videogames on the Atari 2600, Nintendo and Playstation consoles. He enjoyed reading comic books like Batman, Spiderman and X-Men. He also enjoyed going to the movie theatre and seeing movies like Star Trek, Star Wars, Clash of the Titans and Tron when they were first released. Ed’s interests also influenced his career choice. He started out as a programmer and eventually worked his way into a computer administrator. He remembers at age 12 working on the original TSR-80 and writing code for video games and figuring out ways to save all he the code he wrote because back then hard drives did not exist for home use. Today he wants to share his experiences of the past but also share his thoughts on current geek topics. Everyone who meets him agrees he is the nice guy.
